A Saskatoon police officer shocked a woman with a stun gun as she was holding a knife to her own throat Saturday.
The police were responding to a domestic violence call in the 1400 block of Cumberland Avenue.
Police say officers tried to disarm the woman upon arriving at the scene around 11 p.m., but were unsuccessful, so an officer deployed a Taser.
The woman was then arrested and taken to hospital for assessment before she was transported to a holding cell.
She is charged with carrying a weapon for a purpose classed as dangerous to the public peace, resisting arrest and possessing a controlled substance.
Two toddlers and two other adults were also present as the dramatic scene unfolded Saturday.
